Myanmar Man Arrested after Allegedly Stealing Gold from Ex-wife worth 1,150,000 Baht in Patong

Patong –

Police in Patong have arrested a 49‑year‑old Myanmar national accused of stealing gold jewelry weighing a total of gold items worth 1,150,000 Baht from his former wife.

The Patong Police told the Phuket Express that authorities apprehended the suspect at the parking lot of a market. Seized items included the stolen gold jewelry, a red Honda Wave motorcycle with a sidecar, and other evidence. He now faces charges of “theft in a dwelling using a vehicle.”

The case began on August 5th at 9:40 a.m., when a 46‑year‑old Myanmar woman reported to Patong Police that her former husband, from whom she had separated about four years ago, had entered her home and taken gold jewelry stored in her safe. The suspect allegedly fled on a three‑wheeled motorcycle.

By 12:30 p.m., investigators had traced the escape route using CCTV footage and successfully tracked down and arrested the suspect. He was taken, along with the evidence, to Patong Police Station for further legal proceedings.
