Phuket Generates Over 300 Million Baht During Long Holiday Period

Phuket –

Phuket saw a surge of domestic tourism during the recent three-day holiday, with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) estimating that spending exceeded 300 million baht. The holiday period, from July 28–30, 2026, coincided with His Royal Majesty King Rama X’s birthday, Asalha Bucha, and Buddhist Lent.

According to Sirivan Siharach, Director of TAT Phuket Office, hotel occupancy across the island averaged 60.79%, based on surveys covering 30% of properties in major tourist zones. Thai visitors totaled 62,211 during the long weekend, staying an average of 2.02 nights. Daily spending was calculated at 5,453.76 baht per person, contributing to an estimated 329.73 million baht in revenue.

Beyond leisure travel, Phuket also showcased its cultural and religious traditions. On July 29–30, Wat Khao Rang Samakkhitham hosted ceremonies including Buddhist chanting, a sermon, candle-lighting rituals, and offerings of candles and robes for the rainy season retreat. Meanwhile, Chalong Municipality organized its annual Buddhist Lent Candle Parade, featuring candle casting, consecration ceremonies, and processions to local temples such as Wat Latthiwanaram, Wat Chaiyathararam (Wat Chalong), and Wat Sirisilasupharam.
