An ice cream vendor was arrested at Kata Beach after allegedly attacking two foreign tourists with his fists while brandishing a knife in a drug‑fueled outburst.
Police said the incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. when residents reported a man behaving erratically near the beachfront road in Karon Subdistrict. The suspect, identified as Mr. Parinya, 30, from Chachoengsao, was selling ice cream from a pushcart before suddenly becoming aggressive. Witnesses said he struck two tourists, identified as Mr. Dmitry and Mr. Dimitroy, causing minor facial injuries.
Local residents intervened, restraining the man until police patrol officers arrived. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Authorities later conducted a urine test, which returned positive for methamphetamine. The suspect admitted to using the drug prior to the attack. He was transferred to Karon Police Station for formal charges.
Police confirmed the tourists sustained only minor injuries and received medical attention. The case is now under investigation, with charges expected to include assault and drug use.
