Russian “Mafia” Boss Arrested in Phuket on Extradition Warrant

Phuket –

Immigration Bureau officers launched a raid in Chalong, Phuket, on July 25, 2026, capturing a Russian national identified as the alleged head of a major organized crime syndicate in the Russian Federation.

Phuket Immigration told the Phuket Express that the operation was carried out under a search warrant issued by the Phuket Provincial Court. Investigators had traced the suspect’s hideout after receiving a formal extradition request from Russian authorities through diplomatic channels.

Authorities revealed that the man had overstayed his visa in Thailand and was also subject to an extradition warrant issued by the Criminal Court in Bangkok. He faces accusations of leading a sprawling criminal network involved in serious transnational offenses and large-scale fraud causing extensive financial damage.

The arrest was the result of close cooperation between Thailand’s Immigration Bureau, the Office of the Attorney General, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Russian law enforcement agencies. After weeks of surveillance, officers gathered sufficient evidence to secure a search warrant and move in on the suspect’s residence.

The suspect has been charged under Thailand’s Immigration Act for overstaying his permitted stay. He was transferred to Chalong Police Station for legal proceedings and will now enter the extradition process under Thailand’s Extradition Act of 2008 and relevant international treaties.
