Provincial authorities in Phuket have launched an integrated inspection of retail outlets in the city, uncovering a store selling imported Arab products without proper documentation. Officials ordered the seizure of goods and pledged further legal action.
On Monday (July 26th) authorities inspected a minimart located on Ranong Road in Phuket Town. The shop specializes in consumer goods imported from Arab and Middle Eastern countries and employs Thai staff.
Investigators found several violations:
- No corporate registration or commercial license displayed as required by law
- Missing price tags on certain items
- Food products lacking Food and Drug Administration (FDA) registration numbers
- Imported goods without Thai-language labels detailing product information, manufacturer, or importer
- No documentation proving the origin of imported goods or evidence of tax payments
Customs and public health officials seized the questionable products for further examination. The store owner has been given the opportunity to present valid documentation, while relevant agencies will proceed with enforcement under applicable laws.
