Authorities Shut Down Five Cannabis Shops in Phuket Old Town

Phuket

Provincial authorities in Phuket have revoked the operating licenses of five cannabis shops in the island’s Old Town district after uncovering multiple violations of legal conditions.

The sweep targeted cannabis retailers in the popular Phuket Old Town area on Monday (July 26th), a hub for both locals and tourists. Authorities said the crackdown was part of ongoing measures to regulate cannabis businesses, ensure compliance with the law, and safeguard public safety and Phuket’s tourism image.

Violations leading to license revocations included:

  • Allowing cannabis smoking inside the premises (3 shops)
  • Failure to submit legally required reports, with repeat offenses (1 shop)
  • Submitting falsified reports (1 shop)

Officials emphasized that these breaches constituted serious violations of operating conditions, warranting immediate license cancellation.
