A drunk Myanmar driving incident in Thalang, left two Thai nationals dead and two others injured after a Myanmar man, heavily intoxicated, crashed his black Suzuki jeep into multiple motorcycles.
The Thalang Police told the Phuket Express that at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night (July 25th), they received reports of a serious collision near the entrance to Ton Sai Waterfall in Thepkrasattri. Officers arrived to find a wrecked jeep registered in Phuket, driven by Mr. Aung Min Oo, 42, a Myanmar national. He was visibly intoxicated, later confirmed by a blood alcohol test showing 239 milligrams percent, nearly five times the legal limit.
The jeep had first struck a motorcycle ridden by Mr. Kanit , 60, who sustained critical injuries. Attempting to flee, the driver continued about 100 meters before plowing into three more parked motorcycles outside a shop and injuring their riders awere Mr. Thanawit, 24, Mr. Niran, 36, and Mrs. Mariam, 45.
Rescue teams rushed all victims to a local hospital. Tragically, by 9:40 p.m., doctors confirmed that Mr. Thanawit and Mariam had succumbed to their injuries.
Police documented the scene, collected evidence, and charged Aung Min Oo with “driving under the influence causing death.” Authorities stated the crash was entirely due to his reckless and intoxicated driving.
