Authorities in Phuket have intensified enforcement against unauthorized cannabis sales, seizing illicit products worth more than 120,000 baht in a coordinated operation.
The Phuket provincial authorities told the Phuket Express that they investigated a cannabis shop operating without a license in Wichit. Officials staged a sting purchase before raiding the premises. A 22‑year‑old male suspect was arrested, and officers confiscated 26 items including:
- Cannabis flower: 266 grams of dried buds
- Pre‑rolled joints: 14 units (including those from the sting operation)
- Cannabis extract: 4.2 grams
- Electronic cannabis pods: 5 devices
- Paraphernalia: 201 rolling papers, a digital scale, trays, and a grinder
The seized goods were valued at approximately 120,000 baht. Extracts and electronic pods are now undergoing laboratory testing to confirm their chemical composition before further charges are filed.
The suspect faces allegations of “selling or processing controlled herbs for commercial purposes without authorization” under Sections 46 and 78 of the Thai Traditional Medicine Protection and Promotion Act (1999). He was taken into custody along with the evidence and handed over to Wichit Police Station for prosecution.
