Phuket –

The Governor of Phuket, Chotnarin Kerdsom, has personally extended support to a student intern who was assaulted inside a hotel kitchen in Patong, Kathu District. In a meeting at the provincial hall yesterday afternoon, the governor presented a gift basket and financial assistance to encourage the victim’s continued education, while stressing that all relevant agencies must act swiftly to protect the student’s rights and ensure comprehensive care.

Our previous story:

Investigators from Patong Police Station are pursuing legal action after a 20‑year‑old female intern was allegedly assaulted by her supervisors inside a hotel kitchen in Patong.

Now for the update:

The incident gained national attention after a 15‑second CCTV clip circulated online, showing a chef approaching the intern, slapping the student’s head, and striking their arm with a ladle as the victim tried to walk away. The footage triggered widespread condemnation and calls for legal accountability.

At the meeting, senior officials from the police, the Provincial Social Development and Human Security Office, the Education Office, and the Labor Protection and Welfare Office joined the governor in hearing the victim’s account and reviewing ongoing assistance measures.

Governor Chotnarin stated that the case must be handled transparently and fairly under the law, while agencies coordinate closely to provide holistic support such as covering legal protection, labor rights, welfare, education, and psychological recovery. He stated that the well‑being of the victim must remain the top priority and urged rapid progress to restore public confidence.
