A burglary at a fruit shop in Karon turned violent when a thief armed with a knife attacked the shop owner before fleeing with 15 prized durians worth approximately 4,000 baht.
The incident occurred eaelier this week at a fruit shop located near the Karon traffic light intersection. CCTV footage released by authorities shows the suspect sneaking into the shop under cover of darkness. The shop owner, 41-year-old Worawut, was awakened by suspicious noises and confronted the intruder.
A struggle ensued, during which the thief used a knife to injure Mr. Worawut. Taking advantage of the chaos, the suspect grabbed 15 durians, identified as premium Monthong variety, and escaped into the night.
Mr. Worawut later filed a complaint with Karon Police Station, where investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and gathering evidence. Authorities are now working to identify and apprehend the perpetrator.
