Tourist Fined for Driving Car Onto Phuket Beach

Phuket –

Authorities in Phuket have fined a tourist who drove a car directly onto Layan Beach in Cherng Talay, sparking public concern over safety and respect for public spaces.

Police from Cherng Talay Police Station confirmed that the driver was charged under the offense of “causing nuisance or disturbance in a public place.” The law carries a penalty of up to 10,000 baht.

The incident drew attention after beachgoers witnessed the vehicle being driven across the sand, an area intended for walking and relaxation. Officials explained that beaches are not designated for vehicles, and such actions risk disturbing visitors and damaging the fragile coastal environment.

Local authorities reiterated that tourists are welcome to enjoy Phuket’s beaches but must follow regulations designed to protect both public safety and natural resources. This case serves as a reminder that violations will be met with enforcement to preserve the island’s reputation as a safe and sustainable destination.
