Wichit Officials Tighten Fire Safety Checks on Entertainment Venues

Officials in Wichit carried out late-night inspections of four entertainment venues to reinforce compliance with fire safety and legal standards.

The Governor of Phuket, Chotinarin Kerdsom, has directed sweeping safety inspections across the province’s entertainment venues, hotels, and restaurants following a deadly fire in Bangkok that claimed multiple lives.

At 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday night (July 15th), the Wichit Police alongside district officers, municipal enforcement staff, and volunteer defense units. The team inspected entertainment venues in the area.

No violations of law were found. However, managers were reminded of strict obligations:

• Venues must not operate beyond legally permitted hours.
• Persons under 20 years of age are prohibited from entry.
• Weapons of any kind are strictly banned.
• Human trafficking activities are forbidden.

Safety measures were also reviewed. All four establishments had dry chemical fire extinguishers placed at risk points, unobstructed emergency exits, and functioning illuminated escape signs. Doors could be opened outward immediately in case of emergency.

Authorities added the importance of regular fire drills and evacuation rehearsals to ensure patrons can be safely evacuated in the event of a blaze.
