A late-night fire broke out inside an abandoned building in Chalong, bringing a swift response from local officials and emergency crews. The blaze, which ignited around 9:40 p.m., was extinguished within 30 minutes, preventing it from spreading to nearby properties.
Mayor Samran Jindaphon of Chalong Municipality, accompanied by municipal council members, disaster prevention officers, firefighters, police from Chalong Police Station, and staff from the Phuket Tourist Assistance Center, rushed to the scene in Soi Suki-Nokle, Moo 9, Chalong Subdistrict.
Investigators determined that the fire originated on the second floor of the derelict structure, where piles of garbage had caught alight. Firefighters deployed high-pressure hoses to bring the flames under control. No injuries or fatalities were reported.
Once the fire was contained, police discovered two motorcycles near the site, one parked beneath the building and another left on the road nearby. Both vehicles were seized and taken to Chalong Police Station for examination. Authorities are working to identify the owners and determine whether the motorcycles are connected to the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by police and relevant agencies.
