Phuket provincial officials have stepped up their campaign against narcotics as part of the Ministry of Interior’s nationwide “Operation 90 Days,” resulting in the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of illegal substances in Muang District.
On the evening of July 3rd, at approximately 8:30 p.m., a special task force from Muang Phuket District, known as the Rachasri Narai Unit, carried out a targeted raid in Soi Mukdee, Rawai Subdistrict. The operation followed public complaints about drug activity in the area. The team was led by Akara Suwattikul, Chief Administrative Officer, with support from officers of the Office of the Narcotics Control Board and members of the territorial defense volunteer corps.
Authorities apprehended two individuals:
- A Thai male suspect found in possession of 88 methamphetamine pills, charged with possession of a Category 1 narcotic with intent to distribute.
- A Myanmar national arrested for driving under the influence of drugs, with 0.28 grams of crystal methamphetamine confiscated during the search.
Both suspects, along with the seized evidence, were transferred to Chalong Police Station for further investigation and prosecution.
Phuket Governor Chotinarin Kerdsom, together with Deputy Governor Khaterat Chansilp and Acting Provincial Clerk Siwatch Rawangkul, said that the province will continue to integrate efforts across agencies to combat drug trafficking and abuse. This is to strengthen public safety and improve community well-being through sustained enforcement and prevention measures.
