Patong Police Arrest Trio for Nighttime Copper Wire Theft

Phuket –

Investigators from Patong Police Station successfully apprehended three Thai nationals accused of stealing electrical equipment and copper wiring from abandoned buildings in the Patong–Karon area.

The operation, led by Acting Police Colonel Korakrit Khanthakhru, Superintendent of Patong Police Station, and Police Lieutenant Colonel Suchart Chumphusang, Deputy Superintendent of Investigation, took place at approximately 1:10 p.m. on June 24th. Officers arrested the suspects at a deserted building along Siriraj Road.

Police recovered a large haul of stolen property, including:

  • One intact air compressor (1 kg)
  • Four sacks of dismantled compressor parts (67.5 kg)
  • 1.5 air-conditioner condenser panels (5.8 kg)
  • One sack of dismantled coil fins (7.8 kg)
  • One sack of stripped copper wiring (13.2 kg)
  • A backpack containing burglary tools

The arrests followed a complaint filed on June 21st, when a property owner reported missing items from an abandoned building. The stolen goods included an Eminent-brand 12,000 BTU air conditioner, a Panasonic water heater, and extensive electrical wiring and air-conditioning pipes.

Police investigators traced the thefts to the suspects, who allegedly operated at night, dismantling and removing valuable electrical components for resale.

The three suspects now face charges of “joint nighttime theft” under Thai law. They have been handed over to Patong Police Station’s investigation unit for further legal proceedings.
