Mystery Parcel in Phuket Leads to 20,000 Meth Pills Seized

Phuket –

Police in Phuket uncovered a major drug operation after intercepting a suspicious parcel left by the roadside, leading to the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of 20,000 methamphetamine pills.

On Friday (June 27th) investigators from Phuket City Police Station launched a covert surveillance operation after receiving reports of a package abandoned in the city. Officers observed a man and a woman arriving to collect the parcel and moved in to detain them.

The suspects, identified as Mr. Kan, 30, and Ms. Mimi, 25, were taken into custody at a rented house in the Komarapaj community, Talad Yai subdistrict. A search of the property revealed the parcel concealed inside the bedroom, containing thousands of methamphetamine tablets packed in plastic bags.

During questioning, the pair denied ownership of the drugs, claiming they had been hired to collect and temporarily store the package until receiving instructions from the network’s ringleader. They admitted to being paid between 500 and 1,000 baht per delivery.

Police have charged the suspects with possession of a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute, an offense considered a serious threat to public safety. Authorities are now expanding the investigation to identify the masterminds and dismantle the wider trafficking network operating in Phuket.
