Thalang –
A male from South Sudan was arrested at a local restuarant inside a shopping mall in Srisoonthorn following complaints.
Mr. Phichit Singthongkham, Director of the Phuket Employment Office, confirmed that his team acted on a formal complaint alleging that foreign nationals were working illegally at a restaurant inside a shopping mall in Thalang District.
When inspectors arrived, they found several Thai employees alongside four foreign workers: two from Myanmar, one from the Philippines, and one from South Sudan.
Upon examination, one of the workers, a 19‑year‑old man from South Sudan, was discovered to be working without a valid permit. He had reportedly been employed at the restaurant for only a week and was in the process of training staff when officers intervened. The worker was unable to present a work permit and was immediately informed of his rights and the charges against him.
He was then handed over to Thalang Police Station for legal proceedings. Authorities also issued a stern reminder to employers and foreign workers to strictly comply with Thailand’s labor laws.
