Phuket –
Authorities in Phuket have arrested 16 Chinese nationals and 62 undocumented migrant workers during a raid on a luxury villa construction site in the Cherng Talay area.

The operation was carried out at 10:00 a.m. by the Security Threat Suppression Command, supported by the 41st Military Police Battalion, the 1st Infantry Battalion of the 15th Infantry Regiment, and other relevant agencies.

The raid followed a tip-off from local residents who reported suspicious activity at the site, where Chinese nationals were allegedly working as engineers and supervisors while most of the labor force consisted of Myanmar workers.

Initial investigations revealed multiple violations of Thai law. Sixteen Chinese supervisors were found to be working on tourist visas, which are not valid for employment. Meanwhile, 62 Myanmar nationals were unable to provide documentation proving legal entry into Thailand.

All detainees were taken to Cherng Talay Police Station for legal processing. The Chinese nationals face charges of working on improper visas, while the Myanmar workers will be prosecuted for illegal entry. Following court proceedings, immigration authorities in Phuket will arrange deportation of all those involved.
