Russian Fugitive Captured in Phuket Luxury Hideout

Phuket –

Thai immigration authorities have arrested a Russian national wanted under an Interpol Red Notice after tracking him to a luxury villa in Phuket.

The suspect, identified only as Igor, was detained by Immigration Division 6 officers in cooperation with Phuket Immigration Police. Investigators had been monitoring his movements closely before intercepting him as he casually stepped out of the villa late on Saturday morning.

According to Russian law enforcement records, Igor is not a mere tourist but a key member of a document forgery ring accused of defrauding companies of more than 150 million baht. In 2024, the group allegedly falsified procurement and shipping documents to siphon off over 80 million baht. The following year, they escalated their scheme by fabricating production records for non‑existent goods, deceiving firms out of an additional 70 million baht.

Despite choosing a high‑end hideout with ocean views and sea breezes, Igor’s attempt to blend in as a holidaymaker ultimately failed. Thai investigators, working in close coordination with international counterparts, traced his trail and closed in on the villa.

Authorities confirmed that Igor will face extradition proceedings in line with international protocols. His arrest shows Thailand’s ongoing cooperation with global law enforcement agencies to ensure the country does not become a safe haven for fugitives.
