Authorities in Phuket have formally unveiled plans for the construction of a new police station in Cherng Talay, a move set at enhancing law enforcement capacity and boosting public safety in one of the island’s busiest tourist zones.
At a ceremony held in the Kuan Kamala forest area, Pol. Maj. Gen. Sinlert Sukhum, Commander of Phuket Provincial Police, presided over the installation of an official signboard announcing state authorization to utilize forest land for the project. The event was attended by senior officials, local government representatives, community leaders, and related agencies.
Pol. Col. Ekkarat Plaiduang, Superintendent of Cherng Talay Police Station, explained that the authorization allows the Royal Thai Police to proceed with construction of a modern station building, police housing, welfare facilities, and essential infrastructure. He added that the new facilities will improve operational efficiency and expand services for residents and visitors alike.
The approved land covers a total of 11 rai 1 ngan (approximately 4.4 acres), granted under two permits issued in October 2025 and April 2026. The site will host the new Cherng Talay Police Station headquarters along with supporting amenities.
Pol. Maj. Gen. Sinlert highlighted that the installation of the announcement sign not only fulfills legal requirements but also demonstrates transparency in the use of state land. “This ensures the public can clearly see and verify how government land is being utilized, while fostering trust in the development of public safety infrastructure,” he said.
Cherng Talay, located in Thalang District, is a rapidly growing economic and tourism hub, home to luxury resorts, entertainment venues, and residential developments. Officials noted that strengthening law enforcement presence is vital to support community growth, safeguard lives and property, and reinforce Phuket’s reputation as a world-class destination.
The police station has already marked boundary lines and installed permanent signage at the site entrance to ensure public awareness. Authorities pledged strict compliance with all legal and regulatory conditions, underscoring that the project will serve both government operations and the wider community in the years ahead.
