Phuket –
Police in Phuket have arrested a Myanmar national accused of fatally stabbing a fellow worker following a dispute fueled by jealousy. The suspect, identified as Mr. Aung Tu (alias), was taken into custody in Phatthalung on June 10, 2026, after evading authorities for more than ten days.

The Chalong Police told the Phuket Express that the case began on May 30th, when Ms. Win (alias), the mother of the victim Mr. Kawe (alias), filed a complaint with Chalong Police Station. She reported that her son had been attacked with a knife by Aung Tu and later died from his injuries at Vachira Phuket Hospital. According to her testimony, Kawe returned home on the night of May 29 around 10:30 p.m. with severe stab wounds and named Aung Tu as his assailant before collapsing. Despite being rushed first to Chalong Hospital and then transferred to Vachira Phuket, he succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators initially struggled to determine the exact crime scene and locate eyewitnesses. However, inquiries at a workers’ camp in Rawai revealed that the suspect had fled the area immediately after the incident. A coordinated search eventually traced him to Phatthalung, where police successfully apprehended him.

During questioning, Aung Tu confessed to the attack, claiming he acted out of jealousy. He alleged that Kawe had been communicating with his girlfriend in a manner he perceived as romantic, which led to his violent outburst. Police have since transferred the suspect back to Chalong Police Station for formal charges and arranged a crime re-enactment to strengthen the case file.
Authorities confirmed that legal proceedings are underway, with the suspect facing prosecution for murder under Thai law.
