Three Unauthorized Hotels Busted in Phuket Tourism Zone

Phuket—

The Department of Provincial Administration has launched an urgent operation to dismantle illegal hotel businesses in Phuket, targeting establishments that exploit loopholes and undermine lawful operators.

Authorities discovered that certain operators were covertly running hotel-like accommodations, openly advertising rooms to both Thai and international tourists through online platforms without securing the required licenses under the Hotel Act of 2004.

The task force simultaneously raided three establishments in Karon and Rawai, Phuket. Evidence confirmed that these businesses were operating as hotels without authorization. Officials arrested those responsible, seized booking records and service documents, and handed the cases over to police investigators for prosecution.

The Department of Provincial Administration pledged strict and sustained enforcement to restore fairness, protect public interests, and uphold quality standards in the tourism sector. Authorities believe these measures will strengthen visitor confidence and support sustainable economic growth.
