Van Driver Arrested at Phuket Intersection with Meth Pills

Phuket —

Police in Chalong arrested a 30‑year‑old van driver after discovering methamphetamine pills in his possession during a roadside search at the Saiyuan intersection.

Officers stopped a suspicious van on Wiset Road near the traffic lights. A search revealed six methamphetamine tablets hidden inside the vehicle. The driver, a resident of Thai Mueang District in Phang Nga Province, was taken into custody.

Later testing confirmed the presence of methamphetamine in his system. Police filed charges for:

  • Possession of a Category 1 narcotic (methamphetamine) without authorization
  • Consumption of a Category 1 narcotic in violation of the law
  • Driving a vehicle while under the influence of a Category 1 narcotic

The suspect reportedly pleaded for leniency, but officers proceeded with legal action. He was transferred, along with the seized drugs, to Chalong Police Station for further investigation and prosecution.
