Phuket –
Phuket Province organized a volunteer activity to honor Her Royal Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana on the auspicious occasion of her 48th birthday. The ceremony, held at the beach in front of the Royal Thai Navy’s Third Area Command in Wichit Subdistrict, featured the release of sea turtles and bamboo sharks back into the Andaman Sea.

The event was presided over by Phuket Governor Nirut Phongsitthithawon, joined by Vice Admiral Weerudom Muangjeen, Commander of the Third Naval Area, Police Major General Sinlert Sukhum, Phuket Provincial Police Commander, as well as senior officials, private sector representatives, and hundreds of royal volunteer participants.
The ceremony began with floral tributes and blessings offered before the Queen’s portrait, followed by a collective pledge of the royal volunteer oath: “We do good deeds with our hearts.” This symbolic act displayed the participants’ commitment to public service and national unity.

Governor Nirut said that the release of marine species was both a tribute to Her Royal Majesty and a practical effort to conserve natural resources. “This activity not only honors the Queen but also builds awareness of marine conservation among the public,” he said.
In total, 49 sea turtles and 20 bamboo sharks were released into the sea, reinforcing biodiversity and supporting the balance of the marine ecosystem. Despite intermittent rainfall, the atmosphere remained spirited, with volunteers dressed in royal volunteer uniforms working together in harmony.

This is part of a broader program of volunteer activities nationwide to celebrate Her Royal Majesty’s birthday. In Phuket, it shows the province’s commitment to preserving its coastal environment while strengthening bonds between government agencies, civil society, and local communities.
This royal volunteer activity is part of the enduring principle of service to society and the environment, ensuring that the treasures of the Andaman Sea remain a legacy for future generations.
