Phuket Airport Confirms Equal Immigration Service

Phuket –

Phuket International Airport has issued a statement addressing recent concerns circulating on social media regarding long queues at immigration checkpoints and allegations of unofficial service fees for expedited clearance.

The airport confirmed it is aware of passenger frustrations and stressed its commitment to improving the travel experience. Officials pointed out ongoing teamwork with immigration authorities to manage peak-hour congestion more effectively. Measures include the upcoming introduction of automated passport control systems, deployment of additional passenger service staff to manage queues, and closer coordination with airlines and related agencies to balance flight schedules.

Phuket Airport stressed that immigration services are governed by official state procedures and standards, with no policy to charge passengers extra fees for preferential treatment. The statement acknowledged that confusion may arise during busy travel periods, and warned that external individuals could exploit the situation by misleading travelers. Authorities are currently investigating these reports.

Recognizing the impact on passenger confidence, the airport pledged to continue enhancing facilities and services despite physical space limitations and rising traveler numbers. The goal, it said, is to ensure that journeys through Phuket International Airport remain smooth, safe, and memorable for both Thai and international visitors.
