Phuket police are investigating a serious collision involving a luxury sports car and a pickup truck late Wednesday night.
At 11:53 p.m. on May 28, officers from Kathu Police Station received reports of a crash on Wichitsongkram Road, in front of Prince of Songkla University. Emergency responders rushed to the scene.
They found a white sports car with red license plates that had slammed into the rear of a pickup truck waiting at a red light to turn into the university. The force of the impact caused the pickup to overturn in the middle of the road. Rescue teams quickly assisted the injured and transported them to hospital.
Video clips circulating online captured the violent moment of impact, showing both vehicles sustaining heavy damage. Witnesses in the area told police that the sports car had been traveling at high speed before plowing into the stationary pickup, shocking other motorists nearby.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the intersection and will conduct a full investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
