Surat Thani –
Immigration police in Surat Thani have arrested a 36-year-old Israeli national wanted for drug trafficking and transnational crime, after tracking him to a luxury condominium on Koh Samui. Making his situation worse, the suspect was found with a large amount of illegal drugs including cocaine and ecstasy at his residence.
Authorities identified the suspect only as Mr. Tal, 36, who was the subject of an arrest warrant issued in Israel. Acting on intelligence provided by the Israeli Embassy’s police and security liaison office in Bangkok, Thai immigration officers coordinated a joint operation to locate and detain him in the Chaweng area of Koh Samui.
Investigators discovered Tal’s movements on the island and revoked his permit to remain in Thailand before moving in to apprehend him. A later search of his condominium uncovered a significant cache of narcotics, including cocaine, ecstasy, powdered drugs, and weighing equipment, all concealed within the residence.
During questioning, Tal admitted to being part of a drug trafficking network in Israel. He claimed the narcotics found in his possession were purchased at a party on nearby Koh Phangan for personal use. Police, however, remain unconvinced and are expanding their investigation to determine whether he had ties to local networks in Thailand.
Tal has been charged with illegal possession of Category 1 and Category 2 narcotics under Thai law. He was transferred to Bo Phut Police Station for prosecution. Following the conclusion of his case, authorities plan to deport him to Israel and place him on Thailand’s blacklist, permanently barring his re-entry.
