Kathu –
Phuket police apprehended a man accused of stabbing his rival in a shocking attack inside a well-known condominium in Kathu on May 26th.
The Kathu Police told the Phuket Express that investigative and patrol officers moved quickly after receiving an emergency call from the station’s radio center. According to CCTV footage and witness testimony, the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m.
The victim, identified as Mr. Kriangkrai, 39, arrived at the condo with his girlfriend. Shortly afterward, the girlfriend escorted Mr. Sriwanlop, 33, from Phang Nga Province, to the second floor. There, Sriwanlop encountered Kriangkrai, who had been waiting near the stairwell.
Police reported that Sriwanlop grabbed the victim by the collar and drew a concealed knife, stabbing him twice in the temple. The victim, seriously injured, managed to flee and seek help from the condominium’s juristic office. Good Samaritans quickly coordinated with emergency responders, rushing him to Vachira Phuket Hospital. Doctors confirmed two severe wounds, with the blade cutting through critical nerves. The victim remains under close medical supervision.
While officers were intensifying their search, Sriwanlop voluntarily presented himself to police. CCTV evidence matched his appearance to the assailant. During questioning, he confessed to the attack.
Authorities charged him with “causing grievous bodily harm” and “carrying a knife in public without reasonable cause.” He has been remanded to Kathu Police Station for further legal proceedings.
