Koh Samui-
Police on Koh Phangan have formally detained a 51-year-old British national, Mr. Wilcock, following a serious hit-and-run incident that left a beloved Thai medical professor critically injured. Investigators submitted a custody request to Koh Samui Provincial Court and strongly opposed bail, citing the severity of the charges and the risk of flight.

Now for the update:
Police have filed seven charges against him:
- Reckless driving causing serious injury
- Fleeing the scene without providing assistance
- Driving without a valid license
- Operating a vehicle without annual tax registration
- Operating a vehicle without compulsory insurance
- Use of a Category 2 narcotic (cocaine)
- Driving under the influence of alcohol causing serious injury
While the suspect denied two of the charges, fleeing the scene and driving under the influence, investigators were confident with the weight of the evidence. Authorities also informed the victim’s family of developments and assured them of ongoing updates.
In addition to the criminal case, police are expanding their investigation into Reef Charter Co., Ltd., a company linked to Mr. Wilcock. Officials are examining whether the firm complies with Thai business laws or if it operates through nominee shareholders, a practice prohibited under Thai law. Should violations be found, further legal action will follow.
