British Man High on Cocaine Arrested on Koh Phangan After Motorcycle Collision Leaves Beloved Specialist Doctor in Critical Condition

Koh Phangan –

A serious road accident on Koh Phangan has left Associate Professor Dr. Teerasak, widely known as “Doctor Ton”, in critical condition after being struck by a British motorcyclist who fled and later tested positive for cocaine.

The incident occurred at 9:21 p.m. on May 23rd along the Koh Phangan–Thong Sala road, near a local furniture shop. Witnesses reported that Dr. Teerasak, a respected physician and lecturer at Ramathibodi Hospital, was hit while walking, suffering severe injuries. Good Samaritans rushed him to Koh Phangan Hospital before he was transferred to Bangkok Samui Hospital, where he remains in intensive care. Plans are underway to airlift him to Ramathibodi Hospital in Bangkok using a police aircraft.

Police investigations quickly identified the suspect as Mr. Wilcock, a 51-year-old British national. After fleeing the scene, he was tracked down and arrested aboard a tourist boat docked at Wok Tum Pier. Officers noted multiple abrasions on his body, consistent with the crash. Wilcock later confessed to being the rider involved and led police to the motorcycle used in the collision, a blue Honda Dream registered in Surat Thani.

Toxicology tests revealed no alcohol in his system but confirmed the presence of cocaine. Authorities have charged him under Thai law and will present him before Koh Samui Provincial Court on May 26.

Dr. Teerasak is a specialist in respiratory and critical care medicine at Mahidol University’s Faculty of Medicine, Ramathibodi Hospital. Beyond his academic and clinical work, he has been deeply involved in community health initiatives on Koh Phangan, earning widespread respect for his dedication to public service.
