Phuket Welcomes Singaporean and Thai Warships for Joint Naval Exercise

Phuket –

The Andaman coastline has become the stage for a significant naval gathering, as three warships arrived in Phuket to participate in the annual Singapore–Thailand joint exercise, SINGSIAM 2026. The fleet includes HTMS Taksin, which sailed from the Gulf of Thailand, alongside Singapore’s RSS Unity (17) and RSS Stalwart (72).

This year’s exercise, held from May 20–27, is hosted by Singapore and takes place in the Andaman Sea. The Royal Thai Navy’s Third Fleet has also deployed HTMS Kraburi to join the training. The drills are designed to strengthen bilateral relations, enhance maritime cooperation, and safeguard shared national interests at sea, while reinforcing regional maritime security.

During the exercise, HTMS Taksin and the two Singaporean vessels anchored at Ao Makham, allowing crew members to disembark for rest and leisure in Phuket. Their presence not only supports military cooperation but also contributes to the local economy by boosting tourism and hospitality businesses.
