Koh Phangan, Thailand —
Police have arrested a 33‑year‑old Indian national after videos surfaced online showing him firing both handguns and rifles. The suspect, identified only as Mr. Shabeel, was apprehended on Phangan Island, following a coordinated operation targeting foreign nationals involved in illegal activities.
Authorities told the Phuket Express that they charged him with overstaying his visa and multiple drug offenses. Officers seized methamphetamine and ketamine packaged for sale, along with drug paraphernalia hidden in his clothing. Investigators also discovered digital evidence on his mobile phone, including images of drug menus with prices intended for distribution at local parties.
The arrest followed weeks of surveillance after residents reported suspicious activity, including frequent gunfire near his residence and alleged drug sales in Koh Phangan and Koh Samui. Police found spent shell casings and shooting targets at the property, confirming his interest in firearms.
During the operation, Shabeel attempted to flee but was quickly subdued. Another Thai national, Mr. Apidet , was also detained with a firearm and a small quantity of narcotics.
