Police in Wichit launched an operation to arrest a 30-year-old man accused of shooting his neighbor during a heated argument over alcohol consumption.
The Wichit Police told the Phuket Express that at around 2:30 a.m. on Monday (May 18th), officers from Wichit Police Station received a report of gunfire at a residence in the Wichit subdistrict, Mueang Phuket. Upon arrival, they found a 53-year-old man suffering from a minor gunshot wound to his arm.
Investigators learned that the victim had engaged in a verbal dispute with his neighbor regarding drinking. The suspect allegedly returned to his home, retrieved a 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun, and fired two shots, injuring the victim before fleeing the scene.

Later that day, at 4:00 p.m., under the direction of Pol. Col. Somsak Thongkliang, Superintendent of Wichit Police Station, officers executed an arrest warrant issued by the Phuket Provincial Court. The suspect, identified only as Veerapong, was taken into custody on charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
During the arrest, police seized the handgun, two live rounds in the magazine, and two spent shell casings. The suspect reportedly confessed to all charges.
Authorities have sent the firearm for forensic examination, including DNA testing, as part of the ongoing investigation.
