Woman Arrested in Patong over “Horse Account” Fraud

Phuket

Officers have arrested a 38‑year‑old woman identified as Ms. Kochamon, wanted under three separate court warrants for her alleged role in online fraud schemes involving so‑called “horse accounts.”

Relevant authorities told the Phuket Express that the executed warrants were issued by the Phuket Provincial Court, Chiang Mai Provincial Court , and Thanyaburi Provincial Court. The charges include supporting fraud against the public, inputting false information into computer systems likely to cause public harm, and opening or allowing others to use her bank account for criminal purposes.

The arrest took place in the parking lot of a hotel on Thaweewong Road, Patong

Victims reported being deceived by online advertisements on Facebook pages, where they ordered products and transferred payments but never received the goods. Investigators traced the fraudulent transactions to bank accounts under Ms. Kochamon’s name, which were repeatedly used by scammers to receive funds.

Police found that her accounts had been linked to multiple fraud incidents, leading to three separate arrest warrants. The combined damages across the cases exceed 100,000 baht.

Acting on intelligence that the suspect would appear at the hotel, officers moved in and identified her before presenting the warrants. She was taken into custody and transferred to Phuket City Police Station for legal proceedings.

Ms. Kochamon denied all charges, claiming she had lent her bank account to a friend and was unaware it would be used for fraudulent activity.
