Prime Minister Declares Zero Tolerance for Shady Influential Figures in Phuket

Phuket —

Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has taken a firm stance against mafia-style influence and land encroachment during his inspection of Bang Tao Beach in Cherng Talay, Thalang.

Anutin expressed two guiding principles: There must be no place for shady influential figures and state officials must never tolerate those who exploit or oppress the weak. He declared that the government will move decisively to restore order in encroached areas, ensuring that justice is upheld and natural resources are protected.

The Prime Minister stressed that while illegal occupation will be dismantled, lawful tenants who have rented land in good faith will receive assistance. “Every solution must be carried out strictly under the law, without harming the environment,” he said, showing his commitment to balancing enforcement with fairness.

His visit comes amid growing concerns about organized groups exerting control over public land and beaches in Phuket, a province where tourism and natural resources are vital to the local economy. The government’s crackdown is to dismantle entrenched networks of influence and safeguard community rights.
