Fire Engulfs Speedboat at Makham Bay – VIDEO

Phuket, Thailand — May 10, 2026

A speedboat was destroyed by fire while anchored in Makham Bay, Phuket, late yesterday afternoon. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

The Wichit Police told the Phuket Express that at approximately 5:25 p.m., flames were spotted on the vessel, which had been left moored about 200 meters offshore in Wichit, Mueang District. The boat had earlier returned from Phi Phi Island, dropping off tourists before the captain and crew shut down all systems and disembarked.

Firefighting boats arrived at the scene to find the speedboat engulfed in flames. Firefighters battled the blaze for around 20 minutes before bringing it under control. By then, the fiberglass hull was almost entirely consumed, leaving only the charred frame floating on the water.

Police confirmed that no one was aboard at the time and no casualties occurred. Investigators from the Forensic Police Division are now working with Wichit Police to determine the cause of the fire. Damage assessment is also underway in cooperation with the vessel’s owner.
