Thai Prime Minister to  Inspect Beach Encroachment in Phuket

Phuket —

On May 10th, 2026, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul will lead a field mission to monitor land encroachment cases along Phuket’s coastline, showing the government’s commitment to protecting public beaches and enforcing environmental law.

The first inspection is scheduled at Bang Tao Beach in Cherng Thalay, Thalang District, from 11:15 to 12:15. Authorities will review reports of illegal occupation and construction on the beachfront, a growing concern as development pressures mount in one of Phuket’s most popular tourist areas.

Later in the afternoon, from 14:30 to 15:30, the Prime Minister will proceed to Freedom Beach in Karon, Mueang Phuket District. This visit will focus on the recent crackdown against encroachment in the area, where officials have taken action to reclaim public land and preserve access to the pristine shoreline.

The mission shows the government’s dual priorities: safeguarding natural resources and ensuring that Phuket’s beaches remain accessible to the public. By personally overseeing these operations, Prime Minister Anutin signals a strong stance against unlawful land use and reinforces the administration’s broader environmental protection agenda.
