A high school student in Katu has been praised nationwide after rushing to save the life of a foreign tourist who collapsed unconscious in the middle of the street.
The incident occurred in front of a popular tea shop in Katu, when a male tourist suddenly fainted, hitting his head on the pavement and suffering heavy bleeding. Witnesses were shocked and feared for his safety.
Among them was Jojo Savel, a half‑Thai student from Katu Wittaya School, who was selling grilled skewers nearby. Without hesitation, Jojo ran to the man’s side and immediately began performing CPR which he had prior medical training in thanks to school while waiting for emergency responders to arrive.
After several minutes of chest compressions, the tourist regained responsiveness and eventually recovered consciousness, to the relief of onlookers.
News of Jojo’s quick action spread rapidly across social media, where netizens praised his courage, composure, and selflessness. Many hailed him as a role model for Thai youth, noting that his intervention may have prevented a tragedy.
