Phuket –
The Phuket Public Relations Department reported that the Israeli Embassy in Bangkok has issued an urgent advisory to its citizens traveling in Phuket and across Thailand, warning them to strictly comply with local laws following a sweeping enforcement campaign led by Phuket Governor Nirut Pongsitthavorn.
Governor Nirut recently launched a comprehensive initiative to regulate tourism behavior, wanting to strengthen Phuket’s image as a high‑quality and sustainable destination. The campaign, coordinated with police, immigration, and security agencies, targets violations such as traffic offenses, unauthorized employment, and visa overstays.
“Phuket welcomes visitors from around the world, but everyone must live under the same laws and regulations to ensure peace and safety for residents and tourists alike,” the governor stated during a meeting with foreign community representatives.
The embassy’s advisory highlighted several key points:
- Zero Tolerance: Citizens must follow Thai laws without exception, as authorities have been instructed to enforce regulations strictly.
- Maximum Penalties: Offenders will face the harshest legal consequences as a deterrent and the days of minimal fines or apologizing is over
- Visa Revocation: Serious violations may result in immediate cancellation of residency rights, deportation at one’s own expense, and permanent blacklisting from Thailand
- Traffic Discipline: Driving without a valid license will lead directly to prosecution in court, there is no more paying on the spot “fines” or warnings.
