Phuket City Police investigators have arrested a 33‑year‑old local man accused of breaking into a foreign resident’s home and stealing more than 15 items, later admitting he sold the property to fund drug use.
The Phuket City Police told the Phuket Express that officers detained the suspect, identified only as Damrongsak, at a rented house in Soi Honsai Thong 3, Rassada, after linking him to a burglary reported.
A foreign resident had filed a complaint stating that his home on Mae Luan Road, Talad Yai, was broken into, with numerous household items stolen. Surveillance footage showed a motorcycle with sidecar used in the crime, which matched the vehicle found at the suspect’s residence.
Police recovered a wide range of stolen property, including a projector, sound equipment, kitchen appliances, furniture, and the red Honda Wave motorcycle with sidecar allegedly used in the burglary.
During questioning, the suspect confessed to the crime, admitting he sold the stolen goods to purchase methamphetamine and support his daily living expenses.
Authorities have charged him with nighttime burglary in a dwelling using a vehicle to facilitate the crime, as well as illegal drug use. He has been handed over to investigators at Phuket City Police Station for prosecution.
