Phuket –
Authorities in Kathu District have stepped up inspections of shooting ranges in Patong to ensure compliance with legal and safety standards.
At 1:00 p.m., District Chief Akkarapol Sutthirak Jitsupap, accompanied by district officials, representatives from the Sports Authority of Thailand in Phuket, Patong Municipality, and other relevant agencies, conducted checks at four shooting ranges in the area.

The facilities inspected included:
- Chiwawong Shooting Sports Association (Elephant Camp branch)
- Patong Beach Shooting Association
- Phuket Kathu Shooting Association
- Patong Phuket Shooting Association — currently closed due to ongoing legal proceedings

Officials confirmed that the first three associations presented valid registration documents issued by the provincial registrar and held firearm licenses consistent with their approved weapons. The fourth facility remains shut while facing legal action.
District authorities stated that association leaders and staff must strictly adhere to all relevant laws and regulations. The directive is to ensure that operations are conducted responsibly, safeguarding both residents and tourists in Phuket.
