Armed Man Causing Disturbance in Rawai Quickly Detained

Phuket —

Residents and business owners in Rawai, particularly around the Saiyuan area, faced repeated disturbances from a man in his forties who allegedly carried weapons and harassed shopkeepers.

Witnesses reported that the suspect entered restaurants, shops, and even private homes almost daily, demanding money, food, and water, while lingering for hours. His behavior included shouting, insulting staff, and handling items inside the stores.

The man was said to brandish short knives and long blades, using them to intimidate locals and tourists alike. His actions caused widespread alarm among business operators, especially those near cannabis shops in Saiyuan.

Police from Chalong Station responded swiftly. Under the direction of Pol. Lt. Col. Jakrapong Petchrat, Deputy Superintendent, patrol officers were dispatched to the scene. The suspect was apprehended immediately and taken into custody.

Authorities confirmed that no illegal items were found during the initial search. However, officers urged anyone who suffered losses or threats to file formal complaints so that charges could be pursued.
