French Couple Arrested Over Viral Beach Scandal in Kamala

Phuket –

Authorities have taken swift action against two French nationals after a shocking incident on Laem Lai Beach in Kamala went viral on social media. The pair were caught engaging in sexual activity in public, sparking outrage and concerns over the island’s tourism image.

The Kamala Police told the Phuket Express that on April 10th, 2026, at 9:00 p.m., Kamala Police Station tracked down the suspects. Officers successfully traced them to a hotel in Patong, Kathu District.

The suspects were identified as:

  • Mr. Halan, 24, French national
  • Ms. Nadia, 24, French national

Both were charged with committing an obscene act in public, an offense under Thai law defined as “conduct causing shame before others by nudity or indecent behavior.” They were taken to Kamala Police Station for legal proceedings.

Authorities imposed the maximum fine of 5,000 baht each and reported the case to Immigration Police for visa revocation, paving the way for deportation.

Police stated that strict enforcement will continue against tourists who engage in inappropriate behavior, stressing that such actions damage Phuket’s reputation as a world-class travel destination.
