Phuket, April 7, 2026 –
Phuket International Airport staged a comprehensive emergency exercise today, simulating a complex maritime aircraft rescue operation under the framework of PEMEX 2026.
The drill was officially opened at 2:00 p.m. by Mr. Teerapong Chuaychu, Deputy Governor of Ranong Province, with senior airport executives, government officials, emergency medical teams, and safety agencies from both public and private sectors in attendance.

The exercise, designed as a full-scale emergency response, recreated the scenario of an aircraft accident at sea. The simulation tested every stage of crisis management: From initial incident reporting and emergency declaration, to mobilization of personnel and equipment, command and control operations, rescue of survivors in the water, and systematic transfer to shore.

Key operational zones were established to mirror international standards, including:
- Emergency Operations Center (EOC) for command and coordination
- Triage Area for medical assessment and prioritization of casualties
- Care Area for ongoing treatment of the injured
- Passenger Holding Area to support travelers and relatives

The primary objective was to evaluate the airport’s readiness across all dimensions, personnel, equipment, and inter-agency coordination, ensuring rapid, efficient, and life-saving responses in real emergencies.
Officials stated that the outcomes of this drill will be carefully assessed and integrated into future operational plans. By refining procedures and strengthening teamwork, Phuket Airport wants to elevate aviation safety standards, reinforce public confidence, and guarantee preparedness for potential crises.
