Phuket –
A dramatic undercover operation by Phuket’s special administrative task force has led to the arrest of a conscript soldier and his girlfriend, accused of trafficking a massive haul of methamphetamine pills. Authorities seized more than 200,000 tablets during the raid at a resort in Thalang District.
The operation was led by Rungreung Thimabutr, Phuket’s Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, who deployed volunteer defense personnel to infiltrate the drug delivery site. Officers disguised themselves as a disabled man to blend into the area before striking at the right moment.
The arrested soldier, identified only as “Mr. G,” was allegedly transporting narcotics from Surat Thani to Phuket. Investigators revealed that he was due to complete his military service on April 14th. His companion, also from Chaiya District, was taken into custody.
This bust follows a series of major seizures in recent days, including 33,000 pills, 10,000 pills, and crystal methamphetamine. The latest haul was found packed inside a suitcase.

During interrogation, the suspects admitted they had been hired by a woman known only as “Ms. B” from Chaiya to deliver the drugs. Each trip reportedly earned them 10,000 baht, and they had already completed two deliveries during their military leave.
Authorities credited the success of the sting to intelligence gathered from local informants, village leaders, and community networks. The crackdown aligns with Phuket Governor Nirun Phongsithithawon’s policy to establish the island as a “white city”, free from narcotics and vices, with the ultimate goal of ensuring tourist safety and community well-being.
Officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing to expand the probe and dismantle the wider trafficking network.
