Phuket Embraces “Proudly Thai Nationwide” Campaign to Boost Tourism

Phuket –

Phuket Province has joined hands with the Ministry of Culture’s nationwide initiative, “Proudly Thai Nationwide,” by encouraging locals, officials, and visitors to dress in traditional Thai attire. The campaign wants to showcase Thailand’s cultural heritage while strengthening tourism and community-based economic growth.

The Phuket Provincial Cultural Office led the effort, bringing together government agencies, private organizations, and residents. Participants donned traditional and modernized Thai outfits and gathered at key landmarks, including the historic Chartered Bank intersection in the Old Town and the iconic Dragon Square. These locations served as cultural “check-in points,” where photos were taken to symbolize unity in preserving Thai identity.

The lively atmosphere drew both Thai and international tourists, many of whom joined in the celebration and captured memorable images. Organizers believe these photos will spread widely across social media, amplifying the campaign’s message and inspiring pride in Thai traditions.

The initiative builds on the Ministry of Culture’s vision of promoting Thai dress as a form of Soft Power—a cultural export that enhances Thailand’s global image. By weaving traditional attire into everyday life, Phuket hopes to create a sustainable balance between cultural preservation and economic development.

Looking ahead, the province plans to continue integrating Thai dress into local activities and tourism experiences, ensuring that cultural pride remains a vibrant part of Phuket’s identity while driving long-term growth in both tourism and community prosperity.
