Chinese Fraud Suspect Arrested in Phuket

Phuket-

Thai Immigration Police in Phuket have arrested a Chinese national wanted in his home country for large-scale contract fraud, following a request from the Chinese Embassy in Bangkok.

The Thailand Immigration Bureau told the Phuket Express that they authorized the operation after receiving coordination from the Chinese Embassy through the Royal Thai Police’s Foreign Affairs Division. Intelligence that suggested the suspect had fled to Phuket.

Investigators from Phuket Immigration traced the suspect to a condominium in Patong, Kathu District. Officers moved in and detained Mr. Wang, 32, who admitted his identity during questioning.

According to Chinese authorities, Wang is wanted by the Ministry of Public Security in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, on charges of contract fraud. He allegedly deceived more than 30 victims by posing as a supplier of billiard equipment, using fake shipping videos and falsified documents to secure contracts and payments. After receiving over 1 million yuan in total, he failed to deliver goods and absconded abroad.

Thai Immigration confirmed that Wang had entered the Kingdom legally on a tourist visa, which was still valid. However, given the outstanding arrest warrant issued in China, Immigration Division 6 approved the revocation of his right to remain in Thailand.

Wang was then taken into custody at Phuket Immigration Office, where he was formally notified of the revocation order. He is being held pending deportation proceedings in line with Thai law and international cooperation protocols.
