Nearly 3,000 Meth Pills Seized at Phuket Checkpoint

PHUKET –

Phuket police intercepted a major drug haul late on March 24, 2026, when officers at the Tha Chatchai checkpoint uncovered 2,967 methamphetamine tablets hidden inside the engine compartment of a red Mazda 3 sedan.

The operation, led by Pol. Col. Khundech Na Nongkhai, Superintendent of Tha Chatchai Police Station, alongside Pol. Lt. Col. Ratchaphat Buakaew and Pol. Lt. Col. Somkiat Wantae, resulted in the arrest of two suspects from Ao Luek District in Krabi Province.

Authorities seized 2,967 of methamphetamine pills (yaba) and a sedan. The suspects were informed of their rights and formally charged before being taken, along with the seized evidence, to Tha Chatchai Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
