UPDATE: Officials Investigate Accidental Shooting of Chinese Woman at Phuket Gun Range

Phuket –

On the morning of March 19th, 2026, Kathu District Chief Akkarapol Suttirak Jitsupap assigned Senior Deputy District Officer Thammarong Chuayaksorn, together with members of the Kathu Volunteer Defense Corps, to inspect a reported firearm incident at the Kathu Shooting Range in Phuket.

Our previous story:

Phuket police are investigating a serious incident at a local shooting range after a stray bullet fired by a staff member struck a Chinese tourist in the face.

Officials reviewed documentation related to the shooting range, firearm licenses, and ammunition imports. All paperwork was found to be in compliance with regulations.

Authorities instructed the range operators to strengthen safety measures. Recommendations included reinforcing buildings with concrete walls, constructing barriers to separate staff housing from the shooting range, and upgrading structural walls to ensure greater protection.

The district added that while legal requirements were met, additional safety improvements are necessary to prevent similar accidents and to safeguard both staff and visitors.
