French Fugitive Arrested in Phuket Wanted on Interpol Red Notice for Attempted Murder

Phuket –
Phuket immigration police have arrested a 46‑year‑old French national wanted on an Interpol Red Notice for attempted murder in France.

The Phuket Immigration told the Phuket Express that on March 12, French authorities had requested cooperation through the Royal Thai Police’s Foreign Affairs Division and the French Embassy in Bangkok.

The suspect, identified only as Mr. Faisal, was believed to be hiding in Phuket after fleeing France, where he is accused of shooting another man during a violent altercation.

A special team traced the suspect to a residence in Rawai. Officers moved in and confronted him, where he admitted his identity and confirmed he was the subject of the French arrest warrant. Immigration records showed he had last entered Thailand on January 23, 2026, under a visa‑exempt entry valid until March 23.

Authorities revoked his permission to stay under the Immigration Act, citing his status as a wanted foreign national. He was taken into custody at the Phuket Immigration Office, where officials, assisted by a translator, formally notified him of the visa cancellation before proceeding with deportation measures.

The suspect did not release any statement about his legal issues and declined to speak to the press.
